QUICK LINKS

(Updated 2/29/20)
Hello ABK Girls Soccer Players and Parents,
This is a quick note to help you get ready for tryouts, which start Monday (Mar 2, 2020).  Are you ready!!!  Please see important information below:

  1. Register, Register, Register -  Just go to www.ahswarriors.org and then click on the Registration button at the top of the page. You need to be registered (includes a sports physical), which is confirmed with an email from Janelle Weems <jweems@lps.k12.co.us>, AD's Assistant, before taking the field.
  2. Tryout Protocols -  This is not Club (Do NOT wear club gear!), tryouts are a full week and parents are asked to please let their player take it from here.  Please wait in the parking lot on the south side of the fields, in your car, and positively support your player on the way home.  If there is a concern during tryouts, your player needs to talk to the Coach and they will decide if a conversation with parents is needed.  You have done a great job raising them, they can handle it and will grow through this experience.
  3. Weather Contingencies - Please know the weather plays a huge role in scheduling Spring tryouts, please be flexible.  Right now the Athletic Department has prepared a contingency schedule for the turf field that involves 3 teams (Track, Lacrosse, Soccer).  Soccer's time slot is 5:30-7 pm.  This is only a contingency plan if the grass fields are unusable.  This could change, your players will be the first to know.  Good news, the turf field lights have to be off by 10 pm so nothing later than that.
  4. Schedule - Expect tryouts Monday through Saturday, at a minimum.  Fresh/Soph selection can also go into Monday or even Tuesday.  Just be open-minded and ready to go.  Saturday practice for any player NOT in the Varsity/JV pool is up to Coach Baker.  Varsity/JV will have scrimmages in Colorado Springs on Saturday, the schedule will be provided next week.  Food is provided by the Booster Club for players and coaches participating in the Saturday Scrimmages.  Friday is a Non-School day, so expect a session at any time of the day.
  5. Communications - The Booster Club will try to keep you informed of what is going on.  However, your player is the first and best source of information.  Please contact Aaron Swafford, , if you have not heard from the Boosters via email.  Registered player's information will not be released by the school until Monday, Mar 2.  The current Booster Club database is based on information from last year and those who have let us know it is okay to be added.  Information will also be shared through Instagram, the name is abkgirlssoccer, thanks to Coach Winn for updating.  Also, check out the AHS Athletic Web site for updates, https://www.ahswarriors.org/page/3198. Final "Also", announcements will be made through the AHS Announcements that are read daily, you can get emails sent to you through  https://ahsdailyannouncements.blogspot.com/ .
  6. Health - Eat well, sleep well, and hydrate well.  This will be a long week and your player will be exhausted.  Players should pack snacks in their bags and bring plenty of water.
Thanks and GO ABK!!!!!. ABK Boosters

First and foremost welcome to all of the ABK players and parents from last season and future ABKers trying out this season. I know this is a busy time for everyone but I wanted to get you all thinking about the upcoming ABK season beginning in March. Here are some important updates for all of you, so please take a moment and read through the entire message:

1)Soccer registration is up and running on the AHS Athletic Webpage. Just go to www.ahswarriors.org and then click on the Registration button at the top of the page. Please do not opt-out of allowing access to the Booster club for your email address. Some announcements will be sent by email so we need a good email address for all players and parents. The registration process is in two parts. The first part is all the information the school needs to register the student. Once that is complete, you will need to complete Part 2 which is the Booster Club registration. Both parts must be completed to register your student.

2) Winter Training is almost complete.  Below is information on the activities:

  • Contact Kyra Swafford, , or Aaron Swafford, , with any questions.
  • Three Teams participate in an Indoor League through South Suburban at the Sports Dome, 6959 S Peoria St, Centennial, CO 80112J
  • Jan 3: First indoor game
  • Feb 28: Last indoor game
  • Games are Mon, Fri after school
  • Schedule: https://southsuburbansports.com/schedule/239834/dome-winter-youth-soccer-girls-high-school-upperlower-mon-fridays
  • Wed: Play on turf at Arapahoe from 3:45-5 pm
  • Payments are due by the first game: checks made out to ABK Booster Club $52 per player
  • Waivers and login information will be provided by the Team Leaders.

3) The Booster Club Fees will need to be paid after tryouts at the parent meeting on March 10th. We do not have the ability to collect the fees online during the registration process.

As we did last year, instead of asking parents to go shopping for food items for the Warrior Invitational, the Chairpersons are instead just asking for a $20 donation. The chairs will then do all the shopping for you. That way you don’t have to drag the items to the parent meeting and we are sure to get exactly what we need for the tournament.

We will be selling Spiritwear and yard signs so bring extra checks. We do not take credit cards.

4) The Booster Club is in need of volunteers. During the registration process, you will be required to register for two shifts for the Warrior Invitational. We will have a Signup Genius in place for the various shifts available before registration. (A link to Signup Genius will be posted on the web page soon). If you have not signed up as of registration, you will be required to sign up for two shifts before completing the registration process. I would suggest you signup when we first notify you the Signup Genius is ready to have a better selection of jobs. All parents, no matter which team your daughter is on, will be required to volunteer.

For the Warrior Invitational, the Varsity games are held at LPSS and the JV games will be held at Arapahoe High School.

Thanks and GO ABK!!!!!
